Don t Fret Violin Viola Finger Position Indiciator Hot on Sale

There are two fingerboard markings: Don’t Fret® and First Frets. These are stickers sticking to the fingerboard of violins, violas and cellos. They are made out of see-through vinyl, are abrasion-resistant and can easily and neatly be removed from the instrument. Both product lines are available in the sizes from 1 16 violins up to 4 4 cello.

The stickers are printed with coloured lines that show the exact finger position on the instrument. They replace adhesive points, adhesive tape and other markings. Compared to other methods, Don’t Fret® and First Frets fingerboard markings are very exact. Above this, they do not get out of place, do not rub off and do not cause extraneous noise.

The First Frets sticker has 4 lines which only show the most commonly used notes for beginners. First Frets thus replaces the most common fingerboard markings. Some music teachers prefer First Frets for their beginners as it is more similar to their previous practice and change to Don’t Fret® at an advanced stage.

The Don’t Fret® sticker has 12 lines that show the complete chromatic scale of an octave. The lines – 5 in white and 7 in other colours – are arranged in the same system as a piano keyboard with its 5 black and 7 white keys. It is easier to teach fingerings, keys, whole steps and half steps with a complete set of lines. As the 12 lines illustrate the scheme of whole and half steps better, some teachers start with Don’t Fret® right away and teach the finger position from colour to colour.
