…Some of the music in Alan Gout s Undercover Hits is taken from films, while the remainder is drawn from hits of another kind. The keys have been well chosen for the trumpet, and the piano accompaniment is complementary and well written. The selection of music is intriguingly random, and I can only assume that the undercover in the title refers to the whodunnit nature of the theme from Murder on the Orient Express. This is a well arranged book that offers excellent concert repertoire for Grade 5 players and above. The pieces are enjoyable to play and offer effective challenges to the developing player. I hope to see some of the pieces on exam syllabuses in future. Reviewed Music Teacher
